Your Time of Dying

Does one know when it is your time to die
Some claim yes, while many stand defiant and proud
Even if death pronounces your name, you can decide if its a lie
If you can claim such a thing, you must say so out loud

One man has defied fate itself and yet lives
Some men defy others due to greed or lust
But this man did not disturb mans evil bee hives
His reason was his alone and yet it was just

He declared to his wife that if she were ever lost
"I shall find you, I will even outlast time and deny becoming dust"
His words would be put to the test on a day of frost
As a warlord grabbed her for he thought he must

The man was stabbed, clubbed, beaten and broken
Finally left out in the cold to become lost in time
Yet after the warlord left, the man rose to recover his wife's dropped token
And he would spare no expense to find her, yet his name was worth only a dime

In his travels the knowledge he gained came with a price
For every time he gained anew, vile men would see him dead
His life an everyday gamble, but not with dice
Yet in the end of the day, he would bleed but be with bread

Many moons passed overhead has the mans body died
But his promise stands true for all to see
He would prove to his wife that he had not lied
And he would unshackle his wife and set her free

The man found the warlord, over many miles of land
That bile man stands atop a castle most crude
A castle so revolting and vile that you had to cover its sight with your hand
But the man would not be distracted to his goal, even by sights of the nude

The warlord oversaw the mans approach and blocked his path
Yet no matter how many swords and spears pierced him, he would not fall
The sight was most sickening indeed, for the stairs leading up was nothing but a blood bath
Nothing would stop the man and in due time he made his way to the great hall

There within the mighty room the warlord declared this
"Your wife is mine and this is your time of dying"
The loathsome lord threw a mighty spear and did not miss
For it struck the man in the head and he lay there lying

The lord laughs was short as a new sight was granted
The spear was removed by the man himself and set aside
And the man continued forth with his sight in hand and not slanted
His eyes burning and his body bleeding just to be by her side

The mighty warlord was finally overcome with this sight and fell on one knee
Slow and heavy footsteps dripping in blood overcame any sound
A mighty grip fell upon the lords neck, a grip so terrible it could snap a tree
Then only the man remained, his sight on his wife he has finally found

She got to her feet and ran to him only to find nothing to grasp
Her sights behold her husbands body as dust lingering in the air
Tears flow back into her eyes for she thought she would be with him at last
Yet the man looked at her with a smile in the warlords lair

She asks how he can smile and he can easily say
"I promised I would find you before becoming dust"
At last she understands and painfully accepts this dismay
He accepts that it is now his time of dying, for he must

So before her eyes, the man who defied death slowly blew away
In their last moment, they embrace each other with a kiss
And in her arms his body lay before the dust found its way
Now she held nothing in her arms, nothing except his bliss

That is the story of how a man defied his time
So when your time is up, you now know you have a choice
You can give up and lose love, which will be your eternal crime
Or you can fight and stand up with your voice.
Your Time of Dying - By Zandar13

I got inspired by the song "Time of Dying" by Three Days Grace because everytime I hear this song a scenario like this plays in my head (yes, sometimes when I listen to music I make it into a music video in my head) and I just decided "Hey, why not make it a poem!" I just hope you dont find it too long and lose interest.

Enjoy!!!
